LAN Rules

Look, games are fun and all, but we live in a civilized society where we have RULES. These are the rules for our LAN center, and are expected to be followed. Failure to comply may result in being removed from the LAN or MAGWest itself.

What to bring:

  • Yourself!

  • Your PC (desktop or laptop)

  • Keyboard and Mouse

  • One monitor (less than 27” please)

  • Network cable (40’ max)

  • A headset w/mic (no speakers please!)


MAGWest LAN has a hardware check-in and check-out system in place to make sure our attendee’s hardware is safe and secure. With that in mind, please be aware that your hardware is your responsibility and MagWest does not take responsibility for attendee’s equipment. In order to check in, please have the following:

  • Your MagWest badge

  • A form of photo ID

  • A signed waiver (will be provided at event)

You will get label(s) printed with your name (and gamertag if you wish), and the type of equipment (PC/Laptop and Monitor) We will scan your labels when you check in and out to make sure you come in and leave with your equipment!  Please note that Hardware Curfew is 11PM - 7AM. No hardware is to be checked in or out during this time.

Additional Rules:

  • In addition to following the MAGWest Code of Conduct, please follow the rules below. This ensures a smooth experience for everyone.

  • Please have Windows, games you wish to play, and device drivers downloaded and up-to-date before the event.

  • Please be mindful of bandwidth usage. Please keep video streaming and downloading of large files to a minimum.

  • Please keep it family-friendly, keep your gamertags and desktop wallpaper SFW.

  • We have a ZERO TOLERANCE for cheating. Any use of cheats, hacks, etc will result in us asking you to leave immediately and possible revocation of your MAGWest badge on a case-by-case basis.

  • If there is an issue that is preventing you from connecting to the network, we ask that you perform some basic troubleshooting first. If the issue persists, please notify a staffer.

  • We are not responsible for any damage to your hardware and installed software as a result of participating at the event.

  • Please try and keep your setup contained and clean. Food and drink is OK, just be mindful of any spills.

  • Enter and exit only through the checkpoint.

  • Please do not sleep in the LAN Area.

  • Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
