New at MAGWest this year is the Music And Gaming Educational Symposium, better known as MAGES. This is a special track of community-driven sessions to learn about topics in the music and/or gaming industries and engage our community!

Our goal is to highlight the knowledge, skills, and concerns of the community to create a space to share, grow, and learn. MAGES will run with the following rough schedule:

Friday: beginning/intermediate game development workshops in Unity/Twine (bring your laptop!)

Click the link above to find out more about our intro to Unity workshop. This workshop has limited space, so use the link above to find out how to reserve your space!

Saturday: unconference sessions

Do you have an interest in something music/game dev related? Do you have something you want to share or get feedback on? Do you want to talk about music and games? Have you never found the right session at a conference? This is your call to come and lead a session!

Join us at noon, propose a 25 minute talk / discussion. Vote on presentations. Enjoy a casual experience driven by our community.Unconference is community driven discussion. New sessions every half hour until 6pm.

The people who show up are the right people!

Sunday: Paper Prototyping in the Game Lounge

Paper prototype with the Game Development Club. Drop in and make a game, no programming, no skills required. Game developers will be on hand to help new people get started. Prototyping is the way to find the fun if you have an idea, or to develop an idea if you don’t have one. Drop in and make/play some new games.

If you're interested in pitching a specific idea for a workshop or topic, shoot us a line at mages@magwest.org! We're looking for talented facilitators and experts in music and gaming fields to help lead discussions.
